[...what the hell. Kuzuryuu runs into Souda on the way out of his room. He stares for a moment. Then stares for another moment.

Then he considers for a moment.]

What the hell is this about?

What're you on about?

[What happened Souda. Explain this.]

It's just what it looks like! I'm stayin'! Here!

...For now.

[Listen. He's got reasons. Clearly. He just explained them so well. That being said, Souda does look tired, stirred up in a way he doesn't usually just get. He's staring right at Kuzuryuu, maybe a little desperately.]

Why.

[Not even a question. It's a demand. Hands on his hips as he stares at Souda. ...except yeah okay, he does look kind of agitated. With a sigh, he inclines his head.] Fine come on. You can stay with me, but you're going to have to fucking explain this.

[Really. What the hell is going on, Souda? Should he be worried?]

[Souda slumps his shoulders, relieved, and tries not to drop his stuff when he goes relaxed. Whoops. No, it's okay, he's fine, he's got it all. He looks off to one side, though, like he doesn't want to explain.]

... Haven't been able to sleep very good since those Future Foundation guys showed up. Plus, they barged into my room today. They were just lookin' around the dorms, but still.

[Basically he doesn't feel safe on his own even if it's established they aren't going to do anything-- or, that's what they say. Being with Kuzuryuu puts him at ease over this, all right??]

...what the hell are they poking around for?

[Kuzuryuu mutters before grabbing Souda by his sleeve and pulling him over towards his bed. His roommates might fuss about this, but Kuzuryuu will fight them if he has to.] I don't know if I like them hanging around.

[Kuzuryuu gestures by his bed.] Leave your stuff there. [And then, with a grin.] You can sleep at the foot of my bed.

[Like a puppy.]

Hell if I know.

[He squawks a bit as he's grabbed, but he follows along-- and then stares at him indignantly. As he puts his things down, he gestures at Kuzuryuu's bed with a jerk of his hand.] The hell do you think I am?! You can sleep on the foot of your bed if either of us is gonna.

I'm basically your guest!

[HUFF]

You're basically a squatter.

[He makes a face before shrugging.] We'll figure it out anyway. [Kuzuryuu does take up very little room. For now though he drops himself to a seat on his bed, glancing over at Souda and inclining his head. Have a seat. Okay?

I don't understand those guys at all. But if the stuff they said is true... [he's okay with that.]

[Souda flops, sitting heavily next to him and leaning his elbows on his knees. He's watching Kuzuryuu out of the corner of his eyes as he starts talking, moving to drag his hat off of his mess of hair and drag his fingers several times through it.]

If it's true, we're fine, everyone's awake, and we even got to save 'em.

...it's true. I wanna believe it. But, y'know, that still doesn't make me feel comfortable around 'em. That Munakata guy ain't as bad, but the other one... [JUZO'S A DICK]

'm not impressed with either one of 'em to be honest.

[They chased his friend up a tree for one thing. But more than that, Kuzuryuu doesn't know what to make of them at all. Really, he gets why people would hate them for the whole Despair thing. He really does.

But it's hard to wrap his head around it when they can't even remember what the hell happened.

He just wants to go home and see everyone wake up and figure things out.]

I wanna go home.

Me too.

[Souda slumps forward, his head hanging a little. He wants to go home and he wants to wake up and to not be Despair, like those guys said. Even if it means remembering everything, now he's got a reason for it, right? There's hope back there, right?

And they're stuck right here.]

Oi, does it bother you when no-one here knows who you are? Or what Hope's Peak or Super High School Level and all that shit are?

[well that's definitely not coming from somewhere]

[He really wants to go home. And he's grateful Souda is here right now. He can stay as long as he wants. Kuzuryuu's head jerks up, startled at the question.

He shakes his head a little.]

Not really. I mean, it's kinda weird. More that people don't know my family name. [He's hardcore yakuza, Souda. That changes how people interact with him. But it doesn't bother him. Except when he's trying to intimidate people.]

But I don't care if people don't know any of that about me. Does it bother you?

[Souda thinks about it, tilting his head to one side, then to the other with a frown.] Not really. It ain't like people really knew who I was back home--no-one'd come up to me in the street and know my name or anythin'.

[Well, they probably know him as despair back there now, but thaaaaat's different.]

It drives me crazy not bein' able to do what I could back home... but it ain't like there ain't things I can do... [He's muttering these words, as if answering a question he asked himself.

Then, louder:]

Bein' a mechanic ain't all I'm good for, right?!

Of course there are things you can do. Technology here is weird as hell, but it's not like that means you still don't have your skills. If you wanna, I bet you can figure out how to apply them here on their machines too.

[He has faith in Souda, okay?

At that last question though, he frowns.] Of course it's not. You're a really smart guy. So if you wanna do something different, do it. Don't let anything stop you. I bet you can do it.

[Kuzuryuu props his hands behind him on the bed and sighs.] At least your skills apply all sorts of places. Without my family connections... eh. It doesn't matter. In a way, that's good too.

[Souda slumps, as if hearing that's taken some weight off of him. He nods, as though confirming the words with himself. Yeah. Of course that's the case. Why the hell would he need to stop just because he can't do the same things he can at home?

He looks over at Kuzuryuu curiously.]

You don't mind not doin' yakuza stuff?

[Kuzuryuu shakes his head at the question. He doesn't. He misses his family, of course. Misses Peko. His sister.

But he grew up surrounded by a lot of violence. It wasn't exactly the friendliest, warmest family.]

Not really. It's not like that stuff is super enjoyable. I mean, it's what my family does. And I'm strong enough to carry it too. But if I weren't born into it, not like I woulda gone looking to get into the business.

[Souda moves to lean his weight on his hands, propping him up when he rests them on the bed behind him.] Yeah, guess so, ain't exactly what you think of when you think of fun.

But, oi, you can use some of it normally, can't you? I mean, I don't really know much about how it works, but you're used to keepin' an eye on a bunch of people and things like that...

[Stuff he can put on his resume.]

Eh... [Kuzuryuu glances over at him skeptically.] Well I mean, yeah. I guess there's some skills that are useful that way.

[Souda did you just imply that his people skills are something he should rely on? HIS? PEOPLE? SKILLS?

But it is true. he's used to the idea of running a large, complicated organization, has basically been raised to understand it, to know it inside and out.]

I dunno. When we get back... I don't know what I'm gonna do back there either. But I hope we all still stick together. I feel like we're gonna need to.

[THEY'RE BETTER THAN SOUDA'S. Souda just looks back at him with his raised eyebrows as if to say what?]

Course we're all gonna stick together! If you guys run off on me, I'll build a plane and chase after you!

[Souda don't jump to conclusions.]

...you couldn't even ride the rollercoaster without getting sick. How far would you get in a plane?

[Come now, Souda. But Kuzuryuu is grinning despite himself. Good, so Souda agrees huh.] Tell you what though, no matter what, I'm not gonna run off on you. So you better not run off on me either.

[Deal? He holds out a hand to him to shake. DEAL?]

[Ohhh-- a handshake and everything! Kuzuryuu's taking this seriously!

Souda's glad, secretly, deep down. Under his bluff and bluster, he's relieved because he's sure there's no way he could shoulder going into that world alone. Moving his hand, he grips at Kuzuryuu's in a firm shake.]

Aa. Got it. I ain't gonna run off on you.

Good. Then we've already got a good start. But that Hinata definitely won't run off either. He doesn't seem like the type.

[And really, Kuzuryuu does think they'll all come together. Even their "dead" classmates. They have to. If everyone really wakes up, they'll need each other. Even he can admit that.

Now.]

We're gonna keep sticking together here, too. Especially with those Future Foundation assholes around.

Y-- you're damn right we are! No way I wanna deal with those guys by myself!

[He gets too nervous to speak. And/or afraid, in the case of Sakakura.

Ughhh he doesn't know what to do with people who want(ed) to kill them. For good reason. How the hell is he supposed to talk to them? He just can't.]

[Kuzuryuu isn't afraid of them. He's just not sure he trusts them entirely, and he sure as hell doens't like the fact that they remind him of a life he can't even remember, just knows intellectually that for some reason he did terrible, unforgivable things in.

It's disconcerting.

Also they chased his friend up a tree.] Me neither. So we're not gonna.

An' that's why I get to stay with you.

[He crows it, all triumph with his flash of emotions just then completely evaporating in a second...

And he's going to move to flop backwards, right onto Kuzuryuu's bed. Dang but it's huge, and comfortable too.]

Yeah yeah. Just remember you can't take up all my room. Where are you gonna sleep anyway?

[Have they figured this out? He did offer the foot of the bed but for some reason Souda wasn't feeling that. They could maybe put together some makeshift cot/mattress on the floor, right? Some cushions or something?

Though right now, they're both sprawled on his bed to talk with a fair amount of room.]
